About Beth Beller

May 25th, 2007

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you. I have been a registered dietitian since 1983. Completing my undergraduate work at Cornell University, graduating with honors in bio chemical nutrition and I then completed a Dietetic Internship Program at Yale Medical School. Hence, I have been trained in both traditional nutrition as well as medical application of nutritional principles.

I have always believed that it is the small things that we do, like the food that we eat, that helps predicts our health and satisfaction in who we are and what we accomplish. I am now launching this blog in order to bridge my strong belief in our ability to maintain sound health, physically, mentally and emotionally by understanding our bodies, the food we eat and the emotional environments in which we live. Please keep these ideas in mind when you add to this blog. Now for a little about my career: I have done many things since becoming a dietitian. From working in long term care as a chief clinical RD to being a food service director and then opening a private practice as one of the first NYS dietitians to become a certified diabetes educator to becoming a past president of Metro NY American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE). I have also participated on the NY Heart Associations’ Task Force “Lighten Up.”, co-authored “Survival Skills for Diabetics” (with AADE - distributed as a teaching guide for newly diagnosed diabetics in hospitals), professionally lectured for many professional as well as lay groups, helped to created diabetes teaching programs and support groups, worked with a health care team in NY Public School 86 - helping to fight obesity and chronic disease in our youth to appearing on cable TV and drive time radio shows. Currently, I work with ND Labs, dba Nutritional Designs (http://www.ndlabs.com/, http://www.ndlabs.com/) to provide expertise in bowel management, wound healing, diabetes as well as general nutritional well being to those in long term care. Together with ND Labs, I am able to add to many facilities success in providing a holistic approach to bowel health as well as other issues that face those in long term care.ND Labs provides a dynamic line of Fiber and Protein Supplements (liquid and powder), Meatless Entrees (Vegan as well as vegetarian), Soy Protein based Foods, Gluten-Free mixes and other related health products to institutions, specialty stores and pharmacies as well as the general public. Our products are usually recommended by health professionals.
